Simple Cake Flour!
What makes cakes super moist and yummy?!
Well buttermilk definitely helps, but I also stumbled across “cake flour” not long ago – umhmm, yup –
I’ve only been in practice with said flour for a little while now, but the results have been great. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go to a high end grocery store or even order it on line – you can make it yourself – EASY!
You guys know I love things that are simple and cake flour is totally easy to make!
I’ve used it to make cakes and cupcakes. I’ll be posting a few recipes that use “cake flour” as part of the recipe so you can try it out yourself.
You will need the following ingredients:
– 2 tablespoons of corn starch
– 1 cups flour, minus 2 tablespoons
Measure out your flour into a bowl. Now remove 2 tablespoons; be sure they are level.
Using a sifter, sift the flour/starch combination about 5 times.
Unless you will be using this right away, store it in a marked container for later use.
Now, I like to make a big batch of cake flour and store it for 2 reasons – it makes my baking process easier and secondly, I never use just 1 cup of cake flour for a recipe.
I will add the recipes to some of these goodies you see I’ve baked.
