Knots of Love: Winter Weather Companions
If you’re like me, you were NOT built for winter! LOL
Although I was born in December amidst a snow storm, I definitely prefer warm weather, but since I live in an area that does get cold – its best to be prepared.
I’ve been practicing a few different things, aside from honing my sewing skills, that have yielded me some super soft and warm Winter Weather Companions.
Scarves, Cowls and Headbands!
I’ve recently learned to arm knit, circle knit and I have been brushing up on my crocheting skills. Check out my latest projects:
Instead of buying one, I created my circle knitter by cutting and binding together, 2 of my daughters Halloween buckets from McDonald’s. I used Popsicle sticks, electric and packing tape to add the “teeth” and voila!
For Christmas, I made all my co-workers scarves using the arm knitting technique. A few skeins of super bulky yarn yielded some amazing things!
I used a few different YouTube videos to teach myself how to arm knit.
As for crocheting, I learned when I was about 16 and since then I’ve gotten way better. I’ve been trying to teach my niece and my daughter. They are trying to gain the patience to learn it – everything for them is so instantaneous, so they are easily frustrated.
Currently I’m in the process of making some Amigurumi dolls, I’ll post pictures of those very soon.
Amigurumi – crocheted or knitted stuffed toy; is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures.
What projects have you been working on to help stay warm this winter?
