Oh My, Cream Cheese Pound Cake!
*bangs fork* Gimmie that Pound Cake!
Ever since I can remember going to my eldest Aunts house for holiday gatherings, I can remember her pound cake. Aunties and Grandma’s make the best desserts don’t they?! *drools* Just thinking about it makes me want some! LOL
I can remember my sister and I always eyeballing that pound cake before anything else. My Aunt would make two because just one was NEVER enough. Shhh… don’t spill the beans, but I definitely used to sneak myself a slice, wrapped in a napkin, and hide it in my purse for the ride home.
Unfortunately, I never got her recipe, but I did inherit an amazing recipe for a sour cream pound cake from my dad’s mother. I’ll share that recipe in another post, but today I want to share my cream cheese pound cake. Its slightly different than my regular pound cake and its pretty close to my aunts version, but she’s had more years of practice than I have. My daughter loves it and was the one to suggest I blog about it.
You will need the following ingredients:
– 3 cups sugar
– 3 cups flour
– 2 cups butter
– 1 cup milk
– 6 egg whites
– 6 egg yolks
– 1 (8)oz package of Cream Cheese, softened
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ¼ teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon lemon extract
Preheat your oven to 350° then grease and flour a Bundt pan, set aside.
Sift together your flour and baking soda.
In a separate bowl, add salt to your egg whites and beat until foamy. Add in extract and beat to incorporate.
Cream together butter and sugar.
Then add in one egg yolk at a time; beating well each time.
It’s so luscious and velvety! *twirls*
I hope this turns out as amazing for you as it does for me. If you are on Instagram, tag me @ImSimplyD & let me know how yours comes out.
